Abstract Thomas Piketty’s Capital and Ideology constitutes a landmark achievement in furthering our understanding of the history inequality, presents valuable proposals for constructing future economic system that would allow us to transcend move beyond contemporary forms capitalism. This article discusses conceptions ideology, property, ‘inequality regimes’, analyses his approach social justice its relation work John Rawls. I examine how ‘participatory socialism’ function not only redistribute income wealth, but also disperse power within society, discuss complementary roles redistribution predistribution proposals, place tradition egalitarian political economy associated with James Meade Anthony Atkinson. Having elaborated on account relationship between policy ideational change, important idea ‘desacralization’ private develop ‘seven theses’ participatory socialism, examining areas which could be enhanced or extended, so as create viable twenty-first century version democratic socialism.
